Amended from above Sept 2015: Two-monthly, the Western Brewers Conference holds a brewing competition. The rules are simple: $10 to enter - all except for 2nd place who wins their entry fee back. At the end of the competition, the brewer who places third chooses the next style to brew. Choices are for 4 months hence so there is time to brew a lager if so chosen.

Judging starts at 3 pm.

Hi Guys, Don't know if I'm going to be able to get my Red ready (get it!) in time for the next meeting, I've got an Epic clone I'm doing at the moment but I'll bring in some of my other beers - a Honey beer and a Wheat.

Kegging my Red Irish Lord today so it gets chance to condition for the comp.

Greig and myself are brewing ours (seperately) this ANZAC morning. I really wasn't going to but got swayed. C'mon Dan, you picked it!

Mine needs conditioning - it's way too full on for an Irish Red... good news too: Steve and Albrecht put their hands up to judge - they felt compelled to when they found out that I was sacrificing entry. I doubt I'll do well though... too much Cascade.

My last pack of EK Goldings are going into this beer. Well, 40g of it. All is going well, coming up to boil now, though it looks slightly more brown than red. I wonder where I was off? Hopefully it will clear up with kettle fining and it's just haze making it look brown. I should really get a pump for recirculation during sparge.

my wort looked really brown until i got it settled into a glass.

I stuffed mine up didn't let the yeast warm up before I pitched it that'll learn me

Should still be sweet mate, what temps?
Comment by Greig McGill on April 25, 2009 at 11:51am
Pitching the yeast now. I'm going with dirty old US-05. Not that I have anything against liquid yeast, just CBF buying some in for a style I'm not overly keen on in the first place! :)
