Epic Beer Is Good

Latest Activity

He did note in his show that the burnt rubber dissapeared after a few weeks conditioning though... I still love you Emersons Pilsner.

Another great beer spoiled by the well trained nose of a beer hound! I hate that, you are perfectly happy with a beer then someone spots something and its all you can smell or taste afterwards. A bit like a hot woman with a mole.

you wouldn't believe how many people asked me "How much Riwaka is in the Motueka Monster?" I believe 'diesel' is another term that people get drom Riwaka.

It is - Jamil picked up on the 'burnt rubber' aroma when I gave him some Emersons Pilsner during his visit earlier this year. It was the first I'd heard of it but now I can spot it.

I'm pretty sure Emersons Pilsner is a riwaka based brew... And that beer rules in my book!

I was getting quite motivated reading the article, until towards the end when ESTHER HARWARD decided to stick up for the big two.... then I actually felt a little bit of rage come on. Very unlike me at all.

Nah, Riwaka are the finest hop known to man - or in other words hands off the Motueka supply, at least I can still buy them ...

Dear Sunday Star Times Editor

Thanks for running the article “Pub turf war has small brewers in a froth over the two big players” by Esther Harward - Sunday Star Times on Sunday 29th August 2010 about the situation regarding the small breweries battle trying to get their beer on in bars and restaurants against Lion & DB’s anti-competitive practices… Continue

Three Cities x Three Bars = Awesome Craft Beer in California

Anyway, my travels took me to three major Californian cities that have
some really great beer bars. So as a quick guide for others traveling to
these cities. This isn't a definitive guide, as there are many more
great beer places, but these places were at the top of my wish list, and
came with many recommendations from people that know.

Luke's 2010 USA Trip - Part 1 - San Francisco

I needed a place to record my recent trip to the USA to answer all those questions people have asked me about it.

The main reason for my trip was to judge at the 2010 World Beer Cup, then attend the Craft Brewers Conference. I thought I would take the time before the event to check out the beer scene in the US since it had been two years since I had been there.

So this first part is my few days in San Francisco.

Living in New Zealand and flying to California I… Continue

Hi Luke - thought I would let you know that I dropped into see Mike at Prenzels today and offered to supply him with some His Majesty for the tasting you are running on Tuesday. I hope to be tagging along myself. See you then.

Just to clarify my comment on that DB vs Epic thing.

I hate DB.

I think Epic is great.

Just a few times I've spent a bit of money on good beer, got a bit carried away and then the next morning can not remember what any of the beers were like. Kind of disappointing.

I guess the comment could have been read as Epic being overpriced, I don't believe it is, just wanted to clarify haha.
