Epic Beer Is Good

"I have been playing with S04 lately, as I like how it floculates nicely. However, I have found that it seems to squash my hops. Maybe it just tastes that way as it does not attenuate as well as s05 or Wy1056. In the future, I will likely do this…"

"Hey Michael, I'm not that keen on S04 - do you like it or can't find S05 ? Plenty of in hops there, just surprised you're not dry hopping it too :-) Cheers!"

"I kegged and tasted this beer yesterday. I really like it. With all of the late addition hops, and the bit at first wort, it does not have any astringency. Although I think the Crystal Malt sweetness is carrying the hop flavour, I may drop it down…"

Four of a kind – Epic Armageddon’s winning hand

Posted on April 11, 2016 at 6:30am 1 Comment

The trophies keep piling up for Epic Beer’s Armageddon IPA, which has claimed its fourth major crown in less than a year after it was named best in class at the New World Beer and Cider Awards.

And to seal Epic’s position as this country’s leading producer of hop-driven beers, Epic Pale Ale also brought home a trophy for the best pale ale, defending the title it won in…

The Imp Has Been Released

Posted on November 19, 2014 at 10:00am 5 Comments

Epic IMP, has just been released in time for the coming summer holiday season.

Brewed as a session IPA, it is SMALL (4.7% alc/vol) and MISCHIEVOUS (generously dry hopped like an IPA. It has more dry hop than the Epic Armageddon IPA).

When poured the aroma hits you with sweet ripe summer stone fruit and…

An Epic beer label  generally has inside jokes, references to popular culture and memes (we like to have fun, be a bit silly, but clever at the same time. Tasting notes aren't always that valuable, as it is so subjective, and you can find plenty of peoples thoughts about taste online on beer rating websites.)

“One Trick Pony” was a comment made by Phil Cook, Beer Writer of the Year 2012 in a…

I've been hoeing into the 500ml Epic from Gate Pa New World in Tauranga. I must say the quality is supurb, not a gusher in site. And... they don't keep it in the bloody fridge. It has pride of place sitting on top of one of the chillers in the deli section. Oh the frustration.

What made you go 500ml? I hope it wasn't my comments re the ability to charge a little extra, cause I was really enjoying the 6-pack at $16 on special.

$26 for four bottles is hurting, and I bet your packaging costs have gone down too.

I'm whinging but I guess I'm still buying it!

Just to clarify my comment on that DB vs Epic thing.

I hate DB.

I think Epic is great.

Just a few times I've spent a bit of money on good beer, got a bit carried away and then the next morning can not remember what any of the beers were like. Kind of disappointing.

I guess the comment could have been read as Epic being overpriced, I don't believe it is, just wanted to clarify haha.
