"I am trying to remember that beer....one of the North Welly brewers made a clone a few years back...
I agree on the Marris Otter. I love the grain, and often use it in a SMASH recipe. The only other base grain I like more is Golden Promise."
"Last minute change...I swapped the Gladfield American Malt for Marris Otter. It was actually an accident, I was just grabbing my base grain, and by default that tends to be MO. Oh well. Maybe it will be pleasant surprise :)"
"More in line with the kind of beer i brew according to the people who know me on this forum...

These days I try to make most of my beers 4 to 5%abv. The S05 batch is bubbling away happily. However, the Bry-97 seems to be a real slow poke. We will see how it turns out in the end. It will be interesting to compare the flavours.
Yeast: 1/2 batch llamand Bry-97 - American West Coast Other Half of the Batch US05
So I split the wort into two separate batches so I could do a side by side comparison of the Bry97 since I never used it before."

"Last night I ordered some from Corey at the Brewhouse in Newtown. With how busy the shops are with online orders, and the speed of couriers at the moment, I reckon it will be next week before I can brew this one. (I also ordered a good amount of…"
"Does the honey flavor actually come through? When I use honey, it seems to have a slightly harsh flavor to it, or no flavor since it is so fermentable.
Perhaps I could add the honey later in the fermentation to get the flavor."
"I have been playing with S04 lately, as I like how it floculates nicely. However, I have found that it seems to squash my hops. Maybe it just tastes that way as it does not attenuate as well as s05 or Wy1056.
In the future, I will likely do this…"

"That is absolutely amazing!
When the lockdown clears and it is easier to get yeasts like that, I hope to try some out. It would have been nice to have it before the lockdown! I just count myself lucky to already have a bit of grain on hand.
