Tried Townshend's Rosies Natch 2010 vintage yet? 100% UK, French and Spanish cider apples. Wild yeasts. Super dry at 5.5%ABV. Think Regionals has it.

Good beer is good beer - and if you are trying to sell beer - a good beer is one that sells. Listen to the customer. You can change the way people think of course if you have squillions of $. But in the meantime......

OK - I'll put my hand up here. I think my words were 'wrong season', but i guess it's all different shades of grey. As I said to Martin the consumer doesn't lie and sales of Wheats (even Pilsners) aren't strong at this time of the year.... That sai…

We brought PKB Remix out as a summer beer last year - 6.66% hoppy stout! Should have called it Black Hole Sun I suppose (trademark)

In the immortal words of my brother in law "If you can wake up in the morning you can drink beer." Stands to reason that you can drink whatever beer you want when you want. Think of any seasonal beer brewed in the Northern Hemisphere being shipped…

I have this argument all the time... I agree with you Martin, good beer is good no matter what the season. BUT (does my but look big in this?) regardless of that, it is *perceived* as seasonal. The average drinker seems to think that winter is for…

Good beer is good beer regardless of the season, surely? Precisely. Oh, except for wheat beers which rank along side leeks as the work of the devil himself ... you haven't been tinkering with wheat have you Martin ?

A wheat beer is good anytime IMO. All beers come and go depending on your mood and a wheat is no different in this regard. I can see why people see them as a summer beer though due to the generally 'light' nature of the colour etc', however, a good…

Got told today wheat beer is traditionally a summer time beverage but cannot find any evidence of this. Good beer is good beer regardless of the season, surely? Your thoughts......? M

All this talk of an antipodean NZ beer style all of it's very own had me thinking about a good name for it. KIPA. Kiwi Pale Ale. (Not qiute as original as SOBA I'll admit,) but I'm going to try and fry one up in me brewery this week. All NZ ingredie…

Crikey Martin - what a smashing idea! Alas, the awards are a competition to see who can enter their beers into the right catogory - not about if it is a nice drop. I think perhaps that these days we may be suffering from a little too much choice.

I see Haagen have a real ale out, at least that is what is says on the bottle. Its about as close to a real ale as a Sav Blanc is to a whiskey. Good luck to anyone who only buys beer in this country by what it says on the label! If we were to enter…

No sweat.
Apple harvest fro our cider orchard isn't till late march though, then a couple of weeks to rest the fruit, then ferment which takes 3 weeks or so (cool and slow.)
Drop me a line end of April.
Cheers, M

G'day Martin. My wife and I were Golden Bay for a long labour weekend. I bought the bottled ESB and Cathcart NTA at the New World in Motueka and, on the way back to Nelson to fly out, managed a quick swifty of the Celebration Ale (I think that's what it was called) at the Moutere Inn. Loved all three, but the ESB and Celebration were tied as my favs. I really wanted to try the ESB on hand pull (might have been a clear #1 then) but the cask was empty at the Inn when we arrived. Bloody awesome ales!

Hey Martin,

Good to meet you the other night. Did I cover my tab with the $20? Wasn't certain what I owed.

Let me know if I'm short,
