I'm brewing an NZ Pale at the moment using a 2nd-generation 1056 yeast. I racked it into secondary fo dry-hopping last night and rescued the yeast, aiming to use it for an American Brown that I plan to brew at the weekend.

However, the hydrometer sample had a hint of a band-aid type flavour. Not strong, but lurking in the background. I'm not sure if it's something that'll clear up as the beer matures, or whether it's an indication of an infection.

Do you reckon I'm safe to use the yeast I harvested or should I get some fresh ready for my weekend brew?

Bin it and grab some US05.

If it was a rare strain, or there wasn't a dry equivalent, I might make a starter with it or something.
Not worth taking the risk, in my view.
I concur, bin it Martin. The pain and sadness from biffing an entire 25 litres is far worse. Trust me, I've been there 8months ago when trying to use a yeast on its 3rd Generation.
S05!! I will never use 1056 while cheap and reliable S05 is around.
here here!
Agreed! Except maybe for a very light, subtle beer where the peach & stone fruit can dominate.
S05 and 1056 are Identical twins, only diffrence is one has a wort on it's nose and it looks like $28 and starters.
Nothing wrong with 3rd generation yeast, I generally get 3 pitches per starter I make up, in fact, last starter I made of 1469 was gen 3 to start with, and I got a further 3 pitches out of it...

Allthough this band-aid flavour is a bit of a worry?? But as you say its really faint so it may be nothing??
Agree again. If your hygienne is up for it, go for 10. Mine wasn't and I think the cause was my big grubby finger accidentally touching the inside of the lid on my yeast storage jar. I remember saying F^&k at the time followed by a she'll be right.

She wasn't right in the end..! I should have pulled out a pack of S05.

Sounds like you need some rubber gloves :-)
