Hi guys, long time browser, first time poster.  I have been looking into getting myself a twin keg, beer gas setup.  Ive got a fridge just big enough to hold two 19L corny kegs but obviously don't want to run into problems refilling the appropriate gas bottle.  I have been looking at a couple of options:

I am pretty sure that this is the option available at Brewers Coop and I would prefer to give Mike my business but I will need to sort out a regulator for NO2 (will I?) and also get a gas bottle.

This sounds like a good setup, pretty much the same as the Brewcraft one but I can opt out of the CO2 regulator and get a Nitrogen one for about an extra $90.  Would this be sufficient to run a beer gas setup or would I need a different bottle?

Thanks for any help you can offer, I'm based in Pakuranga, Auckland and would prefer not to have to travel out of Auckland to refill my gas bottle although that shouldn't be a problem.  If anyone can give me any more advice I would appreciate it, the setup is looking like it will cost around $950 if I upgrade the regulator and the CO2 is still suitable to use.

Cheers,

Pommy

No work today DG?
Haha, nah good on ya mate for getting such a good deal!!
Haven't read the full thread, but the converted fire extinguishers (with the band at the bottom) have to be retested more frequently than the one's with out, or so C-Test in CHCH keep telling me....
Pressure check cylinder testing give it a quick test when they re-fill it!!
Yeah same up here retest every 2 years if it has the band and 4-5 years no band.
where can i get a picnic tap from?

I've seen them in Brewer's Coop if you're in Akl.

I got mine from CraftBrewer.com.au http://www.craftbrewer.com.au/shop/details.asp?PID=871

anyone know anything about these c02 cyl powered dispensers? one is trigger operated and other with gauge

I looked at these when I was setting up for kegging - the trigger-operated one seemed a bit hit-and-miss in terms of getting the dispense pressure right (although I'm sure over time you'd learn), and the gauge one was just too expensive for my taste, for something you won't use that often. My advice is to get the sodastream adaptor and just use that with your normal regulator. It's not as compact or as cool-looking, but you still get portability and it's a reasonably cheap way to do it.

ok, so I need to rent a soda stream bottle from BOC?  i just rang them and they are really only interested in big clients.  not really cost effective to rent through them

Don't you get sodastream swap cartridges through supermarkets/k-mart ? I think you have to have an empty one to start with but after that you just swap for a full one.

Check trademe for empties/spares.
