Shit even I'd skip work for a day and travel to Auckland for that offer... oops yet again the wrong forum....

Is search poked for anybody else? Was working normally yesterday. Damn it, I'm looking for a 6 month old topic...

You could just go to bunning and buy a pack of them (hose clamps) for about $5, those clamps need a specific crimping tool to be effective. Having said that, my hose no longer has a clamp as I couldn't find it....

Good as gold - last week was 79L of an all-Sauvin pale ale (Maris and cara-pils grist) which went really well. Next bit of kit is a plug-n-play plumbing connections board, which I guess we'll build in the next couple of weeks.
Getting a bit sick of bottling those volumes though - very keen to get the keg setup sorted!

James,

The Keg seller would rather do business through TradeMe and asked that I not pass his contact details on. Sorry, I tried. He will be listing more kegs.

Cheers
Pete.

A Homebrewers Christmas

It starts out small, a wish for beer,
A kit and kilo, a drink is near!
In the mix the kit and sugar go,
The outcome a fate we all know.

The beer tastes soapy and a little shit,
The boys cry out says it's not a hit.
So what's next on this epic undertaking,
To get beer that is not painstaking.

We invest in the gear to start from scratch,
Mash tun and grain mill are part of the catch.
A little more bling we buy it all new,
The missus will blow on the first view.

The first batch is fraught with m… Continue

Where have the hops gone?

I'm sitting here tonight after having had probably one more than I should have, not unusual for us ale named, lager brewed swilling Kiwis. It's Saturday night we are all drinking like the 6 o'clock swill is still here, but the difference is that tonight I have consumed beers from the home brewing and craft brewing brethren.

I think we are similar to the Camp David religious nuts of the 80's except that some of us are not trying to have sex with multiple partners (okay not all of us), and… Continue

A Brewer's Prayer

Now I lay my grain in the tun,
I pray the day will turn out fun:
When at the end of this brew day,
Give me a ferment with no delay.

Now I add my water to the grain,
I ask the day is not in vain;
Guard the temperature at sixty-five,
Convert the sugars for yeast to thrive.

Now my grain is mashed to wort,
I hope the sparge will not get caught;
I tell you now if it does get stuck,
I’ll be screaming aloud “ah fire truck”.

Now I boil my wort and stare,
Add hops to strip your enamel bare;
Don’t forg… Continue
