I put the leftovers of my secondary in a bottle, if you give me your address I will try to send it tomorrow. I think it's mainly 3787 as I did the primary with the Strong belgian, and added a wopper of a starter, of what I believe was 3787, to the secondary. btw, I'm in the Coromandel for a few days, so if you happen to be the same you can pick it up, otherwise I'll send it...
Hey mate, there has possibly been a slight change of plan: I just checked the gravity of a barley wine that I was planning on bottling soon and fermentation has stopped well above what I hoped for. So I may decide to take the belgian yeast, which is way more alcohol tolerant, and ferment it a few more points. I can still save you a little bit though if you like, but you would probably have to culture it a few times to get it up to speed...
just sent him an email seeing if he can get it. feel like a mini swap soon? I have some great ESB on at the mo, also a golden mild just about to be bottled.
How's your pilsener coming along?
I've been threatening to organise a Shore-based homebrew sampling at some stage, and I'm finally getting around to it! I'm happy to host it at my place in Browns Bay, and the date I'm going for is Saturday 27th December. Weather isn't a problem as my BBQ and bar are under cover. Bring some homebrew so we can share and provide feedback. Partners & kids welcome. Shall we say 3pm onwards, and we can throw a sausage or two on the barbie later on.
Thanks for the offer - maybe some other time? I was planning on it being a tasting session rather than a brewing session.

Depends on the contract but it will in some way, and may well go beyond just what beer they can cell too. Almost every DB/lion bar in NZ has only that one brewery's beer on tap - but they may have one or two bottles of something interesting in the fridge (or more likely, not have anything interesting in there).
The Malthouse is, I believe, an exception. Think Colin mentioned they have a deal with DB but obviously this is built on something other than the usual clauses and exclusions.

They would sell a lot less beer if they didn't play that way.
Mac's and Monteith's are just divisions of Lion and DB respectively (a little respect to Lion and none to DB).
I might be keen to get a sample of that Cask Ale yeast you were talking about in a thread. I'm coming up to A'land for a few days from the 1st and so on - I could possibly suggest a beer tasting and a yeast exchange?
I've got wlp001, 002, 005, and 300. I've also got wy 1272 (pretty average now) 3463, and 3638. I dunno about that strain you have going at the moment - sounds like it's done the rounds! I was thinking about getting that Cask stuff before, but the NZ dollar is shit, so I can't justify spending at the moment... I you're not brewing with that other yeast before New Years, no worries - still could catch up with you and Barry for a few drinkies...?
OK - Awesome. 1469 it is then: you twisted my arm! (You didn't have to twist very hard!) Just PM me when you decide - and we'll take it from there. I would have been up to Auckland sooner - but I broke my damn finger and now I've got an appointment down here on the 31st December. I'd be quite keen to catch up with a few AGers while I'm up there too!
1272 is pretty average - it's a lot like s-04 in many ways. I'll bring an IPA I made with it and you'll see what I mean: Mmmmmm 7.8%... 90IBU... If you are after a truly american tasting yeast there is only one! 00one that is. I'll sort out some packaging to put it in for the trip... 500ml plastic bottle sounds perfect to me!
I will be coming up late on the 31st and will be going back to NP on the 5th (Monday) I will be free to meet up with you "Shore Boys" any time within that period.
The 4th it is. I'll call you later on so we can arrange a time and a place.

I'm planning on brewing a 100% MO base summer ale with a similar hopping schedule. Any thoughts?

So who are you (if I can be so direct!) and where do you work??
I'm in finance
