Got this Barleywine done finally. I fully miscalculated the efficiency here - as I normally get less in a big grain bill like this. In the end - I got 89% which I'm pretty happy with. I've decided not to add the sugar in now, because the abv will be too high if I use it. I'm quite happy to sacrifice the dryness adding sugar would bring to the beer for a cloying mouthfeel. I added more Chinook in the start of the boil to compensate for this decision.

The wort is more bitter than any other wort I've tasted before... that Chinook is a mean mean mean hop.

This is Gay Mans Water!!! Harden Up Joseph next time try 200g, too bitter harden the fuck up!!
What's your problem bitch - I kicked your arse in the WBC... I'd be better off taking advice of a Can and Kilo brewer.
Fair enough though as your beer does taste like a kit!!
Do you even know what hops are Mike? That's what my beer tastes like. Hops. Not kits... sort it out.
I have a lawn mower catcher full of grass you want to through that in too???
It's OK Mike... You can chuck it into your useless fucking brew. It's what your normal MO is anyway. It wont taste any different to your infected keg fulls.
About to start mashing in an American APA kit. Mate got it while he was in the states. Couple of KG's of extract malt, grains for steeping and a bunch of hops. I'd like to know what it's actually made up of (I have no idea what the grains or hops are) It came with some Danstar Nottingham yeast but I may just exchange that for some US-05 I have left over. I don't fully trust it as I don't know how it's been kept. Doesn't matter though, looks like a decent kit and the proof will be in the drinking. Happy days.
It's a pretty sweet feeling when your thoroughly enjoying a 4 day old sample straight from the fermenter! Just added some dry hops. The kit could have used a bit more during the boil but that's the case with most brews isn't it... :-P
only cc's is tasty like these
