Wicked man glad you liked it! :o) I was going for something more of a smoked brown ale but used too much choch so it went really dark, I did a smoked Porter previously which was alot sweeter but it doesnt go down as well in the hot weather as you pointed out...
I made that recipe up back in the day before I even had beersmith :o)
Hey Mike - did you drop some smoked porter into Dave at Regionals? If so, he was raving about it today... Got me some Mayhem, Pale Ryder and a couple of Fuller's Vintage. I think I need a dozen vintage.
Bugger, someone's beaten me to it, but GO THE MIGHTY WARRIORS anyway!
Can't wait for the season to start - our season tickets arrived a couple of weeks ago, and the first (local) warm-up game is in a couple of weeks.
Might have to consider the sneaky Camelbak-full-of-homebrew for some trips to Mount Smart this season!
imp IPA transformed into an American Barleywine cos it stopped at 1.025. I was still impressed my S05 got it down that far and pre-bottle hydro sample tasted great. Never brewed anything with an OG that high but it was a lot simpler than i expected.
If i ever go that big again I think I'll get the Wyeast 9093 that you used so i don't have to change it to a barleywine halfway through
Could you drop me an email confirm your interest in attending the Tuatara visit to ianc@loading.co.nz? I hope you managed to work out the problem that RealBeer was causing me with the visit start time of 2pm. Would you be interested in a bus from Wellington railway station to/from the brewery? The viability of this will depend on number of people who sign up..otherwise we just go public trasnport, then taxi van.
I was really tempted to have the Imp Stout, but wasn't sure I was in the mood. But honestly, I was mighty impressed with the Dubbel. I'll have another one tonight and let you know what I thought.
What finning did you use on it? The yeast was really nicely compacted.
I have a few kegs nearly ready and will be bottling some (a mild and a spiced winter ale). I'll put a couple aside for you to try and feedback on.
G'day Mike. Cracked open your NZIPA on the weekend. Really nice. You can definitely taste the NZ hops. I loved the bitterness but I do find the piney/grassy flavour of those hops a bit much sometimes... but that's just my personal preference. It was an awesome beer, well done.
I'm bottling my mild tonight, so I'll try another of yours while I'm bottling (I'm very superstitious, I have to have a beer when I'm working with beer or something will go wrong).
I've only had three thus far. I just remembered that I drank the Imperial Stout (it is the Porter that uses smoked malt, right?) late last week. I really enjoyed it as well. It was a bit more bitter than prefer for stouts, but it was damn nice. I'm looking forward to the barley wine, but I'm trying to save it for last.

Great songwriter, that's for sure. Rainy Night In Soho would have to be one of my picks for the greatest love song ever written.

I work on Molesworth Street, so if you're in the city tomorrow you can pick it up from there if that suits. I'm on 021 253 9291.
Cheers
You don't owe me anything mate - just helping out a fellow brewer.

Centennial flavour is obvious (should condition) alcohol is noticable.
I'll let you be the Judge when it arrives!

Thanks again for the beers, I look forward to trying the others.
