Hi Ged! The keg came from my father in law's mate which was left over from his brewing days. I had no luck with any of the breweries, or scrap yards so if you get a call about them I would be interested in another!! I was lucky that the brewing topic came up at a BBQ and the heavens opened and I was showered with gifts, mainly the keg, a bottler, barrels etc.
I put a tap in the keggle, which my brother welded for me, put it's not flash! I think I will get a weldless kit from BeerBelly on AHB next time!
Hi Ged i was very impressed with your picture change....yes i've been trying to get Kelly into an outfit like that for a while....i think you know my wife!? The wee PA from Wellington!
Sorry, I can't remember - I purchased a lot of thngs at once... two coolers, 4 kegs, kettle, immersion chiller etc. I remember the postage was a significant percentage of the entire bill but it was still well worth the investment.
The cooler is great. I have the 5 Gal version and regular do 20l with a 4.8kg Grain bill. and have done one 6.2kg grain bill. In hine sight I wish I did buy the 10 gal cooler but I do think grain bed depth might be marginal. The Cooler cost me I think about 200nzd at my door. But that was when the dollar was at 78cents. Which everone you purchase you will be happy. The best thing about these coolers is that you can just buy anotherone and use the fly sparge set up more beer offer.
Hi again Ged,
The copper pipe came pre-coiled so all i had to do was tighten the coils a little by bending it incrementally around my leg. Got a bit of sweat up but it really only took 15 mins.
I then purchased three of those screw-to-tighten hose fittings, 1 metre of 18mm diametre clear plastic tubing (cut to two 50cm lengths; one for inflow and one for outflow) and one little plastic hose fitting so i could just plug it in to the garden hose. All that stuff cost $15 from mitre 10 on columbo street.
The flow came out at near boiling so we collected it and used it for cleaning at the end of the brew. Efficient
Hey Ged
Just had another thought about your no fizz issue....SO-5 is a notorious late starter in the bottle (you did use SO-5 didn't you?)....i had heaps of problems with and american IPA i brewed a while ago, thought i'd buggered it, probably took 2-3 times longer to carbonate than SO-4
Hey Ged, just cracked the flagon....you're a gem! i love twisted hop beer thank you so much! :0)
Hope you had a great time today at the beer festival, did you try skull buggery? great beer that!

I designed it so that the 17 coils (20cm diameter) would be totally immersed in my big pot filled to 50L.
The beer was so clear, no finings needed at all. Amazing
Only $112 from Edward Gibbons...

Thanks for the beer yesterday, looking forward to repaying the favour!
Hey, have you ordered your keg setup already?
D
i'll see if I can scratch out the post where Steve announced he was selling them to see if it's worthwhile.
