I recon I will leave the morris dancing to the fruit wine makers.... haha! only kidding mate. Couldnt possibly do Morris Dancers- way to English for my tastes!

But seriously, we are trying to start up a beer Quiz which could work at the malty on a Monday to drag in the punters.

Basically you blind taste 5 beers and have to answer 3 multi choice questions about the beer like country of origin, region, style, fermentation type, hop type etc.

I blind tasted/smelt a Hallertau tasting paddle the other day, could tell what they all were just from the smell, was pretty stoked :oP

- Getting the brewers in themselves to talk about the beers that they're producing (along with tastings), or hops they're growing
- SOBA night. Pick a beer for one night a week from the range and give SOBA members a 'Beer of the week' discount only on that night
- The most wanted list. Punters can propose beer on the most wanted list, along with their email. Once a beer reaches some sort of threshold number, the beer makes it to the Malthouse for a short time period.
- Some sort of variation of the 100 pint club, but perhaps some sort of competition for who can drink themselves around the world in 80 days through different beers...
- Beer tasting table quiz. Blind tasting - pick the style, name of the beer and brewery (bonus points for additional interesting fact about the beer in question). Admission charge for a table of, say, 4 with prizes for winners!

I like the drink around the world in 80 days thing, maybe like a beer passport like the BBC does and if you fill it you can get a free glass or something? People like to think theyre getting free stuff, even if theyre not really :o)

Cheers Glynn, some definite possibilities there. We are probably going to start in late Feb with beer tastings on a saturday afternoon- some will be tutored by the brewer, and some will be with tasting notes- watch this space for more info.
