Suggest some beers for a work beer tasting
I'm arranging a beer tasting at work in a couple of weeks. This will be the third one that I've done and they all follow roughly the same format - 6 Kiwi craft beers with maybe a couple of ringers (last time it was some of my homebrew, which went down pretty well).
I try to do a range of beers from light to dark, with maybe the odd weird one thrown in (last time it was Smoking Bishop). Anyone got any suggestions of beers to put in? There are a few Kiwi breweries I'm not all that familiar with yet - anyone suggest the best beers to be had from the Harringtons, Townshends and Wigram ranges?
Thinking that my ringers might be American this year, even if only to get me a taste of some of those beasts with someone else paying!

For something wierd and interesting I place my vote on Green Man Strong, its bloody tasty and quite different! Could be liked by non beer likers also who possible drink whiskey?

The Townshend Stout has been very good each time I've tried it. You could get some Sierra Nevada Stout to contrast NZ-brewed UK and American styles.

Nghere Gold from Harringtons would cause folk to sit up and take notice I reckon.

From the bottle Townshend Number 9 Stout is always a good bet. That said though my favourite Townshend beer is The Old House ESB.

I'll second that - tried the Old House ESB at the Free House the other week. What a great Ale! I don't always enjoy a real ale but the couple I've tried from Townshend have been great.

At work we had a bulk Wigram buy last year. The subsequent tasting session found that their Mustang Pale Ale was the people's choice (good 2L value flagons too!). Closely followed by the Vienna Lager. We also did a Mussel Inn buy up at the end of the year too- Golden Goose was the most preferred, followed by Bitter Ass and Black Horse (probably tied).
