I'm trying to remove as much of the yeast as possible and leave the proteins behind.

I did have a good result with the geletine before but I have heard Isnglass is better.

I'm also unsure as to how long the Isngalss takes to work. I'm sure I read the other day you need it in for 5 days??

Any thoughts?

I've used both and find gelatine a bit easier to prepare. Having said that I recently crash cooled a beer at -1C then transferred to keg - I just threw some isinglass straight into the bottom of the keg from the packet and filled slowly with the cold beer. Sure that would mix it pretty well. I also added some boiled dme to carbonate. Seems pretty clear on tap now.

What is the yeast strain you are using?
S23 - three packets in 20 litres.
"I've used both and find gelatine a bit easier to prepare."

Same. And the shelf life of isinglass seems to be extremely short - even kept in the fridge. I think geletin is cheaper to.

I've used gelatin on the last 10 beers or so and the third pint of the keg is crystal clear.

My method is:

Put the primary into the fridge overnight

Prepare gelatin (1.5tsp into about 150mL warm water, let it sit for 20 - 30 mins)

Put gelatin mix on the stove and heat and stir, just as it starts forming bubbles remove from heat

Cold water bath to cool slightly - about five minutes.

Pour mix into primary, 'twist' the fermenter a few times to help mix it in.

Leave in fridge and keg two days later.
So what temp are you cold conditioning at?
Me? 8C.
Gelatine it is then ... can't get it below 9C though, hope that will be enough.
The colder the better for dropping any suspended solids. One day at 0C is better than a week at 1C roughly speaking.

I've found pouring any finning over the back of a spoon in th etop of the fermenter works well as it spreads out across the top or atleast thats the theory.

"And the shelf life of isinglass seems to be extremely short - even kept in the fridge" - powered or premixed Denim??
powered or premixed Denim??

Powdered.

The isinglass seemed to work pretty good when I first got it, but after a while wasn't doing the trick anymore.
agar works a treat, but dont use it if your going to bottle as it can stratify.
Where do you get it from Kieran?
Second that and raise you a WTF is Agar?
Agar is a is a Algae normally from seaweed, basiclly its a post fermentation finning for people who dont like cow toes
