Going to do an Imperial IPA and woundering if the hoping schedule is a little OTT. 29g Per litre? Epic armagedon is 9.5g but it is'nt a Imperial IPA heres the Hoping Schedule anyway. Have Added first wort hoppings as to help in Utilization and to smooth out the bitterness anyone tried it? And is it aqll what it craked up to be? Any thoughts

wow... that's way more than His Majesty's 12g/L (it had 10g/L in the kettle but only because Steve said he couldn't get 12g/L in there! And then 2g/L dry hopping).

But I did do 28g/L in the (homebrewed) Imperial PKB I brewed in late 2008. [NOTE: that's from memory... it might have only been 27.5g/L ;-)]
I would have picked His Majesty to be hoppier than Hopwired from memory.

Guess it shows you utilization means more than 'g/l' :-)

Disclaimer - both were great beers boys, no offence intended to either parties :-P
I imagine the bitterness in both beers to be about the same... 60ish IBU... but the perceived bitterness of HM (to me) was a lot higher because of lower alcohol and much less of that sweet NZ hop character in the late hopping. Hop aroma in Hopwired (again, my thoughts only) was a lot better. Somewhere between the two is the perfect NZ IPA/IIPA. Who's going to get there first???

#IPArace ;-)

Feeling a bit sad because my last bottle of HM just went on a plane to AKL, where it will meet up with Kelly from Thornbridge brewery and then head over to UK for him to share with James Kemp(icus).
James Kemp(icus).

Wonder if he still gets a silly over the thought of Twisted Hop IPA ?
