anyone used one of those little one shot chargers for their kegs?  so you can take kegs anywhere without massive bottle, it doesnt carbonate but provide delivery pressure. are they any good and can you get in NZ?

cheers

I haven't seen them in New Zealand, but CraftBrewer sells them. I have used one in the past at a beer festival, and they are awesome. Definately recommended if you have the spare dollars.

I would recommend the regulators that hook onto Soda Stream bottles.

Better to shell out the $50 or whatever it is for the fitting so you can use a soda stream bottle for serving. That way you could serve up to 3 kegs I believe with one gas bottle.

Haven't seen those chargers sold in NZ, and imagine they arent a cheap way to do it. They are so small I imagine you would only get a few pours from one charger.

Edit : Jo beat me to it, but same theme - Soda Stream bottles are the better way to go.

anyone know where I can get the adaptor fitting?  also do i need to screw reg onto it as well?

CraftBrewer have them, but a bit pricey at $NZ47 each http://www.craftbrewer.com.au/shop/details.asp?PID=924

and they're currently out of stock. Local fire extinguisher company has just got in some jumbo sized aluminium bottles with a standard regulator thread on them for $99 including fill. Not sure how much they hold but it must be 4 times as much as a regular SodaStream bottle.

I can find out further details if anyone's interested.

i want soda stream or smaller really for portability, www.ebay.com.au has them for 20AUD

I have one of those Darrin and they are good. Just make sure you set it up with ball valve as getting them off the regulator without loosing gas is a b*tch!
