I'd suggest asking those questions again at a North Welly tasting and see what answers you get.

 

So when are you due back and where are you hoping to settle ?

Sounds like a good idea!

We plan to settle back into Tawa. However, I am looking for a nice place anywhere between J'ville to Plimmerton. It looks like the first or second week of November. (not very long for such a long move)

You should start by asking the maker of the mill what its maximum speed (rpm) is, and how much torque is takes.

That would allow you to work out the size of motor and gearing required. (Something from a washing machine would have plenty of power, and probably have its speed marked on the plate). Gearing would be easiest using a v-belt and pulleys, perhaps even ones from the same washing machine. You would need some kind of safety guard to prevent milled fingers, and the electrical side would need to be safe. You would need to protect the motor from dust too.

Or, you could get a variable speed cordless drill, and play it by ear.
