I bought some hops recently, but this bag seems to have quite a lot of powder in there. I'm assuming that I should be pretty vigilant when I go to measure them out for the next brew - I'd bet that pouring a lot of this powdered hops in wouldn't really leave me with a good experience. Is that right?

Nah chuckem in!! More so in the early Additions.
Nah I wouldn't worry about it, I'd just shake up the bag to try and distribute it all evenly.
Were they whole hops with a yellowish powder in the bottom of the bag or pellets with green powder?

The yellowish powder is the best part of the hop and provides all the flavour, aroma and bittering compounds. Definatley use that stuff!!!

The green powder in the bottom of the pellet bag is just the same as the pellet except in powder form. Use it the same way that you would use the pellets.

Either way the powder is good. Yellow powder is like hop GOLD :o)
Thanks for the info. I've got pellets - and was just wondering if they would react a little differently given adding them to the boil already broken up was going to be a bad thing. Greater surface area straight away and all that. Sounds like there's no need for concern though.
Definatley no need for concern. Just go by weight.
