Thanks for the advice there Barry I just did a brew with all new hoses and QDs it worked mint I think your right about being easier than camlock. Got good flow and whirlpool. the only problems
I had was leaks due to badly designed expensive Australian hose clamps. Funny when the cheap Chinese stuff was great.

Weird, what was wrong with them specifically?

For what it's worth I also got my hoseclamps off aliexpress and they work well.

The base for the tightener was just a little to long and square on one end the left a little triangular space where it met the band. I think the size down would have been better. the OD of my hose was at the small end for one size and the big end for the other so I went for the bigger ones. I have ordered some off aliexpress for a fraction of the price where the hose diameter is right in the middle of the size range. To be fair they only leaked significantly when I blasted the garden hose into them. While brewing I way have lost a couple of tea spoons of wort, hardly enough to worry about.

Funnily enough, I only have hose clamps on 1/2 of my hoses the other half have cable ties, never had a leak.
