Just thinking as I am doing a monster brew with a mate this weekend and thinking about hooking up an STC to my 2000w still to heat sparge water as my BIAB rig won't handle to volumes required,

now the book says 8.5amps draw on the still but it has tripped on occasion when someone has used the drier, so on that information would it be safe to use the STC on it or am I risking a melted pile of fine Chinese engineering?

Think they're rated at 10A so should be ok in theory (should say on the unit). I have noticed the solder joints on the terminal blocks are usually pretty badly done, maybe check for sparks :p. But nah should be fine I'd say.

Sweet if it works it'll make for an easy 3V conversion just need to add a mash tun and I've gone from BIAB to 3v for about $50

My STC was fine with a 2.4kW element for months. Then I went and asked it to handle a 3kW  one (yeah yeah, I know) and ended up with the melted pile of chinese engineering after a few brews.

cheers for that tip, will keep that in mind if I up the juice
