I tinkered around with Stu's Pot Kettle Black recipe:

6kg Mars Otter
2 kg ADM pils
450g Crystal 90
300g Pale Choc
200g Choc
150g Black

63g B saaz 60 mins
28g Cascade 60 mins
42g Cascade 20 mins
14g Cascade 0 mins
14g Cascade Dry

OG 1054
FG? - Forgot to check!
Thames Valley ale yeast

I think its a nice enough beer but doesn't have the hop flavour and aroma to be much like I remember PKB. I'm still learning and with this beer I learned not to be so stingey with the hops :-)

Pours dark brown with red hue and an awesome tan head leaving a sticky lace as it subsides slowly. Served a bit cold the aroma was of roasted malt with hints of toast and subtle citrus character. Taste is really well balanced between malt and hop bitterness with a nice thick mouthfeel! As it warms the citrus character comes through in the flavour alot more, like roasted oranges on toast ;o)

Bloody tasty beer bro, I seem to remember PKB having alot more hop aroma, but thats not to take anything away from this one! Cheers mate!
Good black pour with citrus / grapefruit. A little roasty toffee, but not much. Head was minimal until I got heavy handed with it and poured hard. Probably still suffering from Mike's Rye PA... Nice bitter after taste with grapefruity burps.

Not too chewy, and carbonation a little light for me (yeah yeah pansy swilling lager drinker).

Would definately drink again ++ brewer!

Cheers Dale!
