Well CHCHites,

Ged, James P and I decided tonight that we were going to get through the BJCP over the next 6 months.

I propose that we try and knock off a few styles per month

Hey sorry I couldn't stick around for a couple, but I was actually thinking about something like this on the way home. I'm sure we could probably rope in Paul(s) from Wigram too; didn't they do something similar awhile back?
Yup, he got together with the guys in the Twisted Hop and a few more and got through them.
The problem with BJCP is that to maintain your certification, you need to judge in a minimum number of BJCP recognised contests per year. We don't have any in NZ. This was one of the stumbling blocks faced by Stu when he tried to organise something similar a couple of years back.
I think what we are trying to capture is the understanding of each style, and how that relates to what we brew ourselves.

Although I don't tend to brew rigidly to style, it will become a necessity to be able to identify how my beer measures up against judging guidelines when I intend to enter competitions.
Exactly, the BJCP seems like a convenient way for us to get through some styles and understand what makes the good ones good and the bad ones bad
