I like bottles. I really do. I mostly brew belgian beers, and they seem to benefit from bottle conditioning.

But damn it, I have been brewing too much lately. Getting hold of more and more bottles has become a major pain in the ass.

So I reckon i need to get into kegging. Not for the belgians mind you, but the session beers would be good.

There are a few kegging discussions that showed up in the search, but they seem to be from a year or more ago.

My fermentation fridge fits two fermenters easy so I am sure i can fit one or more kegs in there as well (fridge is only for pilsner/lagers etc, so 10C max).

So...whats the best deal at the moment? Probably wont put taps on the fridge at this point so gun is fine.

Thanks guys!

Are you thinking of corny kegs or real ones?

probably just corny kegs

Cornies are ace, especially if you have bandy little arms like me. Theres a few on trademe, Steve has some left at Hallertau, round 100$.

Then you need some tube, a reg, cornie connects in and out, a gas bottle and some non BOC local guy who will fill it. (that can be a problem).

You don't even need a flash tap, I use a 15$ picnic tap, works sweet.

You could ring up Hosizaki Lancer and get everything from them except the gas bottle.

where are you located?

Corey at www.thebrewhouse.co.nz has corny kegs for $80 each - sweet deal!

Looks like brewers coop have reconditioned cornys for $90. Seeing as I can pick them up, will probably work out about the same

you can buy a reconditioned fire extinguisher as a cylinder from pressure check in Grey Lynn. I heard there were some cheap ones at brewcraft Mt Eden, but can't confirm.

I recently made the upgrade myself.

Which means (if you really like bottles) I can offer you my last 48 750ml glass bottles (Carlton United ones from Aus, twist off crown seals, and have done stirling service for years).

PM me if you want to pick up - Auckland, North Shore.

And if you don't want them they're free to anyone else.

Might take you up on that offer. I'd like some more 750's for long term conditioning. On the shore as well

i know a local wholesaler who has in the past sold me empty crates $4each dnt think they are really meant todo that can make enquiry if you want

Cheers but should be right for the moment. Part of the reason for getting into kegging is that i am running out of space to store bottles :)

cheers

Saw that not sure if he is willing to ship it around though

Edit....Aaaand its closed
