Wasn't quite sure where to put this...

Found this short 10min doco on youtube last night about Chimay. What I found really interesting was the old monk who back in the 50/60's extracted single yeast cells from certain strains of yeast. He then propagated each cell, tested it on the beer until he found the single cell he was after. Chimay have been brewing from that single cell ever since.

Gotta love the Chimay.

And on the opposite end of the scale with semi-pissed/stoned tour guide is Rogue Ale - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFXALoegMR8&feature=related
That's funny Glynn, I watched those Chimay and Rogue videos back to back too!
Thanks for sharing that, Matthew. I (I'm sure we all) really enjoy Chimay and very happily we can get it at the local supermarket. Needless to say that the power of suggestion after watching that doco impels me to visit said supermarket a little later today for a wee fix.
I did notice they add sugar to the bottles for carbonation.
Oh man! That Rogue video might be less reverent than the Chimay one, but way more entertaining. Now there's a bloke who thoroughly endorses his own product.
Interesting wee doco - shame about that bloody music though!
