What's the cheapest way to get brown PET bottles for homebrew?

Countdown sell ginger beer which is like 90cents, then you can reuse the 1.25L bottle, which is very handy, and works out cheaper than buying the bottles even if you tip the ginger beer away which is stupid!!

But, I am in need of some 330 or 500ml brown PET bottles

Where are you located? I have a bunch and we could do a trade?

Howick, Auckland.

Wonder if those guys would sell smaller batches at reasonable prices. Speaking of that countdown gingerbeer, I did that the other week. Asked a guy behind the deli to pour them all out for me so that I didn't have to cart them home or pour them in the gutter outside (paid for them first). He was happy enough to oblige me, but I'd suggest that you don't go just before closing time or when it's busy.

As far as I know there aren't 330ml brown PET bottles in widespread circulation (maybe small L&P or Gingerbeers?). Perhaps hit up a pack of those nasty budget 12-packs you see at the warehouse/new world/countdown of 330ml fizzy, they're clear though.

The only small plastic brown bottles I have seen is the Tui bottles at Eden park. I went to watch Black Caps vs India with the group of lads who were in the Tui Advert plumbing beer in to a house. Safe to say there was LOADS of the plastic bottles around us by the end of the day. I am seriously regretting not taking 100 of them home! I'll have to get some more tickets soon. It'll be cheaper than going to the shop & buying bottles.

Oh, and in reply to the link you sent, I don't think they are too keen on selling small batches. Definitely not at reasonable prices anyway. I've emailed loads of them companies. No luck yet.

What's your rationale for 330ml?

Seems like a crap tonne of cleaning and bottling to get a small glass of beer.

I used to use 750ml PETs , had heaps of 500ml grolsch bottles but was always disappointed at not quite having a full pint.

750s are perfect if you have a jug to decant into, you get a full pint and just when that's nearing the bottom you can top it up with another extra bit :)

I have seen at Countdown they they a 6 pack of signature range branded ginger beer in 330 or 340ml bottles for $5.29 I think. As I have  also been on the hunt myself for the Sjporr challenge. Otherwise try http://www.petbottles.co.nz/products/carbonated/350mlStock.htm but you have to buy in bulk. I phoned them yesterday and it worked out about about 60cents each and would get about 4 x 23litre batches. Can't remember the figures but I roughly worked it out but would need roughly $260 delivered. And I am sure they were 340ml size(but they are not there today?) so these could be dearer. We need a homebrew team of 4 to come together all pitch in and divide it up or something to be able to afford it and they come with caps. Cheers.

I emailed them a while back, there is another company that will do a minimum order for about $100 and the bottles work out at 80c.

I would have piched in with you on that one, but I've got a load of plastic bottles now. I've got hold of 50 plastic Tui bottles, from watching Rugby at Eden Park.

Sweet as. Think I am going to end up using glass. They free just a bit extra shipping. Good score on the bottles though. Cheers
