I can't believe it's almost that time already! I'm flying down to Wellington next Sunday and will be helping out with the stewarding at BrewNZ. I'll also be working at a couple of Beervana sessions. While I'm in town it would be great to meet up with those of you I haven't already met, as well as the old familiar boozehounds! I suspect I will be spending a fair amount of time at The Malthouse, but I need to pay my respects at D4, Bar Ed etc. too.

In the spirit of modern technology I plan to use Twitter to update on my travels (my Twitter id is mgbridges by the way). Maybe us twitterers could agree on a set of hashtags (#brewnz and #beervana?) to keep each other up to date.

I had a great evening at the last session on Saturday. However, stocks were running low on a few I wanted to try (which I expected). My problem was that I go stuck at Dominic's stand drinking Rogue... I didn't realise he was going to have some there and I couldn't tear myself away. So, I missed out on the Twisted Hop, only managed a quick PKB and so many more I wanted to hit. Lesson: go to more than one session next year.

And good to catch up with you guys from out of town both there and at the SOBA AGM!
So what was the oaked Armageddon like??
Awsome I loved it! Love to try the next one out of it!!
I found it a lot less hoppy and a lot more floral/fruity. I didn't get any oak or wood character. Did anyone pick any oakiness up?
No Oak? Man we must of been drinking diffrent beers, mine was floral and like drinking lumber it was awsome!!
Ha ha, my senses must have started numbing around that time then... ah well. Still a good drop!
Funny that, I thought the samething my pallete was rooted!! Cheers Brewers!!
No Oak?? Are you kidding?? I had a sample of Pete (the second barrel) and it was dominated by oak. Sorry Luke, but it didn't do it for me.

Having said that, I was really starting to like the batch 2 Armageddon back at the Malthouse. May be changing my mind on the batch 1 v batch 2 debate.
What a ride man, what a ride.

Hard to believe it's all over, but what an amazing week it was. Thanks to all the organisers - you rock Steph! Thanks to all the brewers who were all awesome individuals. And all you other crazy forumites and SOBA people, I love you all.

My fave beers of BrewNZ were his Majesty's IPA from the Yeasties (you guys so totally kicked it!) and the Chocolate Oatmeal Stout from Renaissance. You da man Soren!

Look out for blogposts and more personal thank you emails once I finally get around to it!
