Hi,

I've just got a fridge for my fermenting but it's just too small to fit a fermenter and an airlock so I'm going to change to a blow-off tube system. I've got one of those standard plastic fermenter barrels with a little red grommet for the airlock... My questing is what size tubing should I get that'll fit that hole.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Got a ruler? Food grade tubing generally comes in about 2mm increments (4mm, 6, 8, 10, 12mm etc). Measure the hole and grab the next size up so it is a tight fit?

Seems logical :) Where is the best place to get said tubing? I usually get supplies from Brewers Coop—is there a better option for food-grade tubing?

Most Mitre 10/Bunnings type places have it and sell it by the meter.

the blow off tubes on hallertau's big fermenters are about 25-30mm, into big 100L drums...   like a spa pool on full blast,  pretty impressive to watch a couple lined up in full flow.
