The Marlborough brewing scene is a vibrant one and in some ways echoes the excitement and high standards that the Marlborough wine industry enjoys. Earlier this year, we featured the excellent Moa beers from Marlborough. We extend our investigation of Marlborough beers with this ‘shootout’ between the beers of Roger Pink of Pink Elephant, Brian Thiel of Renaissance and Graeme Mahy of 666 Brewing. A selection of the best brews from each of these top brewers will be pitched against each other, for you to choose the best. Roger will definitely be showing his ‘Mammoth’ and ‘Golden Tusk’, and hopefully something special, and Brian has offered the whole Renaissance rage to choose from, and this may include the new release ‘Marlborough Pale Ale’ which is an Imperial IPA at 8.5% abv. Graham may have a unique brew to make things very interesting as well. To ensure that there will be no prejudice, the shootout will be objectively moderated by Regional’s beer expert Geoff Griggs. We are fortunate in having Roger Pink and Brian Thiel in attendance, and while the shootout will be fun, some great beers will be tasted and a great deal of each of the brewers’ philosophies and ideals will be expounded.
