New Brewery in old Rose and Crown Auckland??

Hi Guys

Some interesting looking equipment has been sighted going into the old Rose and Crown pub in Auk. Has anyone heard of a new micro brewery being set up there?

Seems a massive shame to have missed the RWC completely. Sorry, stating the obvious I know but still.

I don't know Barry. Down here at least RWC has been a big dampener for on premise hospitality, unless your selling Heinys in the fan zone anyway. Anitdotal evidence that its the same in AK bar a limited number of outlets that are in the right place. Down here we are hopefull that business kicks back in when its all over.

Yeah I've heard similar stories, mainly from restaurants though. By most accounts bars seem to be packed, especially downtown in the CBD.

Hopefully open by the 12th as I am planning a trip to Auk - via Crouchers in Rotorua.

We were in there on Saturday.... unfortunatly I'd had a few beers before we got there so didn't have any beer there. The place still smelled of Paint though...

The guys I were with had the Tuatar, all be it bottled.

Would like to spend an afternoon in the pub to sample some of the beer there!

The local SOBA crowd went down there on Friday night. They're sopft-launching at the weekends at the moment. As of Friday night the taps hadn't been plumbed in but that should be sorted soon. Bottle selection was (from memory) Tuatara, Moa, Maimai, Hawkes Bay. First brew should be taking place this week so I guess they're about 3-4 weeks away from having their own brews on tap.

It's looking promising!

Signs up, "the brewery". 4 or so large stainless (fermenters or bright tanks) behind the bar. All I could see as of Friday, must be close.

Tried this last week...they had there first beers on tap (no badges on the taps just biro and masking tape). Tried the IPA - very new world and hoppy. Great option to have downtown. It's very 'modern' and funky inside (not my preference) but I just love the building - glad to see they have breathed life into this old girl. A selection of NZ craft beers on tap to compliment their three brews. No complaints here - get in there...

We were there middle of Nov and had a tour. They have done a lot of work and had a good range of craft beers - even without their own. The food was of a high standard, all of that coupled with the location and I reckon its going to be a winner. Looking forward to going back in the new year and trying the house brews.
