I am yet to try it so I guess we are all guinea pigs in this one..  enjoy..

This was my first beer of the swap.

Firstly - I have never tried a fruit beer before so my opinion shouldn't count for sh!t!!!

 

Pours a deep black colour with little head.

Nice aroma of chocolate and plum

Cant really say I can taste the chocolate - the plum seems to dominate with an aftertaste I cant really place.

Not really my cup of tea - thanks for sharing though

I just tried a bottle that had two blocks of chocloate in it and it was sensational... maybe I needed to add more chocolate..

Dark hazy brown

Looks viscous in the glass

Not much head

Nutty on the nose, like hazelnuts, with slight alcohol/warmth

Tastes a little sharp/spritzy, like it's still a bit young - hasn't developed those creamy small bubbles yet

Dark brown roasty flavour, tangy, not overly sweet...

Some higher/hot/fusel alcohol characteristics? (what we imagine they would be like - we're yet to do a proper sensory evaluation type course, so we're just relying on book learning and imagination!)... these characteristics intensify as the beer warms...

Had this one at the end of a long & tiring weekend, including brewing an English IPA today.

Pours a slightly murky brown, small head. Definite chocolate on the nose.

Overall a nice porter, maybe a fraction on the thin side. I pick up a slightly dusty chocolate flavour, not picking a lot of plum.

Overall an enjoyable beer, thanks for sharing.

Its a good night for a dark beer - the fire's on and its cool and clear outside. 

This one appears dark brown, slightly cloudy with a deep red glint - no head to speak of. 

The aroma is deep  - earthy and chocolatey with no fruit that I can pick up. 

The first taste is soft roasty malt and more of the dark cocoa earthiness which slowly asserts itself as the dominant flavour right through to the end ( which being a dark bitter choc fan I really like!). The light carbonation seems spot on and the lack of sweetness I reckon is a bonus.  The bitterness finishes crisply and theres a lingering mild taste of roast malt with a slight fusel alcohol volatility - but I don't think it detracts.  Again I can't pick any fruit flavour so to my mind the plums have all been incorporated subtly and I'd only probably taste them if I could do a side by side taste with a "non fruited" version.

Poured a dark blackcurrent, which seemed quite murky/cloudy. Tan head, which dissipated quickly. A bit of cocoa, and bready notes in the nose. Quite light mouthfeel for a porter I guess, and I didn't really get any plum. Still cleanly fermented, and good rich bitter chocolate thing going on. Finished quite dry.

Anyway pretty yum on a cold night. Thanks very much!

This beer went down very well with a bread & butter pudding.

No plum aroma or noticable flavour.

Heaps of chocolate! On the nose & flavour.

Had quite a dry finish - maybe the plum?

Really nice beer. I may have to try a choc porter myself.

Also catching up here. Enjoyed this a few weeks back. These were my notes:

On the nose I got lots of chocolate, more so than I picked up the plums. Also a little hot alcohol but it doesn't detract too much.

I felt the body was lacking slightly, for personal taste I would throw a bit of crystal around the 40 - 60L mark in there to beef this up and add a bit of a caramel note to balance the chocolate out a bit.

Really enjoying trying all these creative beers. Cheers Adrien.
