Struggling to find any info online regarding pump sizes for creating a whirlpool immersion chilling operation.

My immersion chiller is15 m x 9.75 mm dia copper with a 9.75 mm dia recirculation arm welded on.

I've got my eye on a Resun pump (not sure which model) with max 19 L/min flow. Does anyone have any experience with whirlpool chilling and can comment as to whether the 19 L/min will suffice? Any other pump recommendations?

that will be plenty big enough, turning over a full batch every minute, I had a resun MD20? I think which is 20l per minute, have changed to chuggers with stainless pump heads and they are rated at 22l but all are effectively the same size.

Got the chuggers from full pint in Melbourne for a good price but they are not on their website at present. Brewtopia have them but a bit more expensive when I was looking

Brewtopia have March pumps but a little more than I am looking at spending currently. Did you get a good whirlpool with the MD20? I generally do 32 L (in the fermenter) batches which equals around 37-38 L to be cooled.

Cheers

yeah that will be give you a good whirlpool, the immersion chiller will potentially be the biggest barrier to the whirlpool rather than the pump flow rate at that throughput

You have convinced me. Wish me luck.

Cheers
