Hi all, I have brewed a Blue Moon Clone a couple of times - it calls for White Wheat - but have used Pale Wheat instead because I can't seem to find White Wheat anywhere. It has always tasted really good but my OG has always been a little off.  Any idea where I can get white wheat from in NZ?  Or is pale wheat a sufficient substitute - similar lovibond.

Cheers

I think the colours of wheat refer to the seasonal varieties, e.g. winter vs. spring. I've never heard anyone talk about serious differences in flavour, they'll be minor at best.

If your efficiency is off when using pale wheat, try plugging in the exact malt specifications for that particular wheat into your brewing software. If you're still off, then maybe it's a mash or lauter efficiency issue. Wheat can gum things up a bit if not handled right. Mashing out at a higher temp is always a good idea.
