SS conical fermenter, considering fabrication.

I'm trying to get my brother to start fabricating some SS conical fermenters and thought I'd ask a few questions to you guys to see if it's a viable thing.

  • How big (litres) would be ideal
  • How much would you pay for that
  • Legs - tall/short/detachable?
  • Lid - preferred clamping/closing style?
  • Any other information or preferences? Holes, clamps, opening points?

would be nice, there is one on TM currently for 85 bucks a 30L no lid, they are definitely the way to go. I only have 3 plastic 30L fermenters but I guess  would look at a SS one when I step up from doing the All-Grain BIAB and go 3 SS vessels. and bigger is better!!!!.

My personal preferences would be:

How much I would pay depends on build quality and features. There are a few companies selling SS conical fermenters in NZ already so your product would have to surpass what is already available, be it price, quality or both.

Detachable legs available in various sizes would make sense to me as everyones fermenting fridge/situation differs in size.

A clamping lid would definitely be preferable for me.

Other preferences - some way to filter dry hops would be nice, but I have no idea how that would be done effectively.

I'll add that I'm not in the market for a new fermenter at the moment, but certainly will be at some point in the future.

Add handles for carrying and a thermowell to other preferences.

Size to fit in a 370 cube fridge. I have a 55l farra one it fits neat
Size should be capable of multiples of 20l finished batch ie cornies. 55l does a 45l batch...40 finished easily
Large dump valve....farra one too small
Sample valve midway up side....farra one does not have this. Impossible to sample from racking arm
Full Lid clips on.....viewing window. Small opening for dry hopping. Blow off quick release.....can use also for filling
Legs should have circle foot so you can roll fermentor when full....farra has this its good....it weighs 13kg so almost 60kg when its full
