Does anyone have a chart or a list of which NZ hops are similar to varieties of hops from overseas (American, etc) which appear in many recipes? I have not had the chance to play around with many American hops and so I don't have much to go on even though I am quite familiar with NZ hop varieties. So just wondering if anyone has actually compiled a list or made a NZ hop substitution chart for overseas recipes? Would be very useful! Cheers

You probably want something a bit more detailed than this, but Brewer's coop has a hop character wheel

(and I'm not sure where that came from)

Very cool.

Thanks for that Gareth, it's a start at least! But yea I'm hoping to find something like the usual 'hop substitution charts' you find online and in brewing books for American hops, but with the NZ hops included too. And if one hasn't been made yet, I'm sure the knowledge of this forum can at least begin to chip away at it!

I think you will find that the NZ hops are pretty different to the US ones and that there are not a lot of direct "substitutions" as such. However you can make some mighty fine beer using NZ hops!
