Mill Disaster
Okay so I bought a twin roller Crankandstein mill at the start of the year, and I've managed to completely root it already. I've probably been using it with a drill that is too high-powered for it (it's mains powered), and I've gone and ruined the hexagonal hole where the drill bit goes in. Doh!
Haha I've probably also stuffed the drill bit too. What a retard.
I guess I'll just email the dude and ask him if he can sell me a replacement part or something.
The REAL drama is that I was just milling grain for tomorrow's brew session, and it's only half-milled, which means NO BREW DAY tomorrow! Man, talk about first world problems!
Anywho, is anyone in the central Auckland area packing a mill, that doesn't mind helping me out this weekend with a bit of grain milling? I can make payment in (not revolting) homebrew...

how bad is the hole? it may be possible to put a spade bit (a flat wood bit if you're not familiar)of the correct size in there and get it to spin?

Can't you just put the drill chuck on the outside of the shaft? - it has 3 flats for that purpose.

where did you get your grain? take it back maybe they'll mill it for ya?

Never really notice that hole had a hex socket, just throught it was the machining centre. I would do as Christian said and throw the drill on the outside, just make sure you chuck it up tight otherwise it will spin and gouge the shaft.

As Christian said if you chuck it on the outside of the shaft and get the jaws tightening on to the flats it wont spin on the shaft unless somthing is very very very wrong.
