So the rolling pin is no longer cutting the mustard.... or in this instance, cracking the grain.

Anyone made a mill that makes decent grist in short order?

Am considering this: http://www.trademe.co.nz/home-living/kitchen/tea-coffee-making/coff...

 70g, then reload.... 70g... reload....

Apart from `wrap em in a teatowel and go hard` methodology... what are you using to access that sweet, sweet malt(ose)....?

I think you would make too much flour with the coffee mill mate, you really just want to crack the grain rather than pulverise it.  If you are going with all grain I would really look at investing in a mill.  Especially if there are a few of you as most of the time it sits there doing nothing.  2-3 of you and its good value.

Not worth trying to make them in NZ unless you can knurl at home.  The mills from the states are great prices as are some of the retailers here. Personal preference is Monster Mill, 1.5" dual roller and hopper.  All designed to fit into a standard box so shipping is about $40.

Vescu made on e on here too a few months ago, have a look back on the forum posts.  Bit of tape and matchsticks but he reckoned it worked well.

corona mill with (just google these) mods works well for a monthly brew.  $80 new.  Sometimes cheaper via ebay - but heavy to ship.

Ditto on both suggestions below.

MM-2 is easier to setup and use than the MM-3.

have lookc through this forum to find examples of people setting them up with direct drive or electric pulleys.
