Hey dudes,

I'm getting my act together tidying up my 3 vessel system, and I'd really like to find a good solution for a windshield for my low pressure 3-ring burner. I'm using bricks at the moment, but they're not really ideal.

Bare in mind too that I can't weld, and have f-all tools, so can't just hoon down to the scrappy and knock something up.

Anyone got any leads?

Thin stainless steel outer "skins"  from old kichen rubbish bins (the type with the pedal/ tilting lid) aren't bad.  I use 2 bent the right shape to surround my kettle and they're held together with bulldog clips.  Cheap, effective and easy to clean.

As well  as creating a wind shield I found they act like a flue around the kettle and increase the boil intensity too.

Yeah I saw you'd mentioned that in another thread. I think I'd actually like this to be something that my kettle could physically sit on, and enclose the burner... Sorry I obviously didn't make myself very clear.

What's your kettle - big pot or cut down keg? Its good to have enough spaces left around the base to allow air for the gas to burn and to create an updraft around the kettle.  You could incorporate an old steel chair or stool frame to support your kettle over the burner (like one of the blog posts - here) with the shield to get both a support and a shield.  Happy to lend a hand with tools/help to knock something up if you want.

Yeah it's a bit pot. Yeah totally if I had some way of cutting up an old stool that would be fine, but alas I don't.
