Drooping under the weight already. I must tie it up better. Outside 'The Pilgrim's Rest'.

Looking good mate! I have 4 hop seedlings about 300mm high. They were cuttings I snipped off a couple of vines at the McCashins brewery in Nelson, so I'm not sure of the variety. Is there some way I can tell? Also I planted these cuttings in December, is that too late for them to mature in to a vine and flower?

Thanks Simon, don't know how you can tell the variety except maybe use them in a brew and get an expert beer judge to tell you. Hops are normally grown from root stock rather than a cutting so don't know how you'll go with that. Certainly too late in the year and don't expect any flowers in the first couple of years. Usual planting time is around mid winter. My Cascade came from a very mature tuber which filled a supermarket checkout bag. I've got a smoothcone which i bought off TradeMe 18 months ago and i don't expect I'll get any flowers off that this year. Still establishing its root system. Good luck anyway.
