A book I've found pretty useful as a new AG brewer is The Home Brewer's Answer Book by Ashton Lewis. Brief but reasonably detailed answers to a range of basic through to advanced questions, and easier to search and find than How to Brew and many of the others I've seen.

May I recommend Beer Calculus as an addition to the brewing software section. It's an online tool, it's free and I used it for a while before switching to BeerSmith.

I think if you were to use that micro amount you would need micro equipment to see, read the diffrence. let us know how you got on.

Cheers, added a link to the original article but through google docs in case anyone doesn't have power point. I hate those stupid pdf/ppt reader websites giving no credit to the original author but whoring out other peoples work and making money off it.

I've attached water reports for Lower Hutt and Petone water supplies and the Artesian aquifer on Buick St Petone. These are unavailable from the Lower Hutt CC website but are available on request by email.

Here are a couple water reports for anyone using the Dunedin supply and a quick pic I took of the analysis beside the Speights tap.

 

I've heard the Speights water gives better results and my experience agrees. I assume because it is from a well/spring. The plan was to use the water report to adjust the main supply to save a trip into town for each brew but I haven't been able to match up the numbers to what How to Brew expects :-(
