This week we drink a very special collaboration brew between Epic Beer in New Zealand and Dogfish Head Brewery in Delaware.
Portamarillo is a smokey "imperial sorta-porter" that is made with Tamarillo's, sometimes known as a Tree Tomato, indigenous to New Zealand. The Tamarillos are roasted over Pohutukawa wood, and fermented with Brazilian Rapadura sugar.
We enjoy this brew right after watching it being made on the new Discovery Channel show BrewMasters. If you haven't seen it yet, definitely check it out.
