Great work on the bock Dan, congratulations mate. Can't wait to get a taste of it at Hallertau. Those Magic Barley Crushers we got seem to be doing the trick eh?

Hi dan,
Love the photos of the hops. Would love to get into growing myself, where would you reccomend getting seeds or rhizomes?
Any help is appreciated.
Cheers
Brendan

Great looking hops Dan. You say that you found a seed in a bag of cascade. Where they whole, plugs or pellets? I'll switch to whatever it is if there's a chance of a decent seed.

By the way, congrats on the Bock!

Hey Dan,

Sorry for the late reply - how rude.. Life's been way too busy - using the long weekend to catch up.

My bine hasn't flowered yet - though that might be due to the mild abuse it's been having due to my poor gardening ability! I'm also not living with it at the moment, but hopefully someone will alert me when it does something.

I expect to move my beer fridge in the next month and hopefully settle into a nice routine where I can brew a bit more often.

At the moment no homebrew at home, but I'm enjoying this year's Taieri George.

Hey big dan Finaly go the hang of this real beer thing. Life is looking up for me mate, nearly done with this drug trial thing ( so will be able to enjoy a good ale again) and the ABC brewery is well under way. My enginering mate has made me up the flashest mash tin ever with all these hard core temprature senser things, flash as fuck circit boards and two jug elements to heat that shit up. For the kettel we got an old hot water cylinder, 180 L cock sucker, and are going to chop it in half and strap the most hard core gas burners we can find to the bottom of each of them. Still gota sort a cooling coil for the beasts tho. The lads at down at Harringtons are looking after us very well and kindly offerd to mill us up some grains. Give those boys in Mot a ring and I should have a brew down befor the end of me holidays. Mite have to get a few tips off you asap so i dont fuck up my masive brews, haha. I will try and give you a ring soon for a yarn. Exiting times mate, i rekon we need to get you up here to put one of your awardwining bocks for us. We should try and tie it in with one of our other big events. Peace out bud. Joe boy

If you're happy to pay the postage (no idea how much it will be) that's no problem. Send me your address at timgully (at) gmail (dot) com and I'll get them in the post, and let you have my bank details.

Hey bud.
Shit Dan, you have been a busy boy! Hope you will be taking out the comp again so I can have a look at your nice stainless fermenter next time im down! haha. Yea I should have 2 brews ready for the comp, iv got a APA ready and will bottle an extra special bitter this weekend hopefully. Yea i was thinking about brewing something a lil bit darker but haven’t quite made my mind up yet. Have been loving my pale ales though.
Thinking about getting a 70L stainless pot for a hot liquor tank so i can get a little gravity fed number going on! I know i know, only 21 and im worrying about my back....soft. I just love all the toys. Thank fuck for drug trials, Iv got another 1 that i start on Tuesday that will give me another $4300 before those government cunts take their cut so that will be nice. Saves me getting a real job.
Any ideas for a mint recipe? a brew that has worked real well for you? Did you manage to get a job in chch yet? If you give me a bit of notice I can try and jack up a big piss up for when your here. And we could make some beer or sumit if your keen.

Peace out Danimal
Joe

morebeer.com - i purchased 2 years ago with loads of other stuff.
go and add one to your cart, then check shipping price and do the $ conversion (add 12.5% GST to be safe, or 20% GST/Excise to be oversafe). Email them and ask them if they can do a better deal with shipping. I've done this on larger equipment and they've been good.

Hey Dan. Was leaving a message on Stu's pages and saw you asking about the mash tuns etc. You can also buy them here from Payless Plastics for $168 for the largest size and then buy the false bottom and weldless tap from craftbrewer in OZ or morebeer in the US..Certainly worked out a lot cheaper for me given the Kiwi/US dollar dropped from 80c+ to 54c. That makes a HUGE difference on purchase power..Only buying the smaller parts online also keeps the postage costs down to sensible levels.. Hope that helps.

Hello

Dan I was former a cheesemonger, as of last Monday Im now a beer specialist at Regional Wines and Spirit.

There are some books out on homecheese making and 2 outfits running courses at present. I think to make it worth your while you need access to cheap milk, having a cow would be even better.

I would go here

of email here

They will be able to help.

Hey Dan - I had no idea about all this with when you won Champion Beer. Can you give me an email on brendon@libertybrewing.co.nz so we can have a chat about. I'm wondering if there is something (SOBA even libertybrewing to an extent) can offer you at the moment to try and make this right.

Cheers,
B

The least I can probably do is give you free entry to the Homebrew Champs this year.... and buy you a beer next time you are up in Wellington. In fact, I was in Gore about this time last week. Should have looked you up!
Cheers,
B
