Hey Rusty, yep just had a read of AHB thread, and it makes sense for a stepped mash. Porbably give it a go in the next week or so, as I am looking forward to using some of the W34/70 and Wyeast 2042 I have in the fridge!

Hi mate

Good to catchup..Not ordered any kegs yet..Was looking at craftbrewer but james said ( i think) Steve up in Halleratu sold them...Craftbrewer doesn't ship them here - too costly apparently...You probably left at a good time..I got home around 1.00 am:) So much for a few quiet beers... Will see you soon for a beer or several.

Hey, sorry I've been away for the last few days up north. I'm good for any time this week, and it you're lucky I could spare an Irish Red & Stout...

hey rusty

here is there recipe, sorry i took so long ot gwet it too you. i had to get it off of mick. you could substitute the extract for pale malt but you might have to do a longer boil to get a decent OG

We also decided it could be more bitter and maybe fuller bodied/darker in taste, using pale malt instead of extract and adding a bit more darker malts may achieve this

23 L batch

Pale Malt 3.1 kg
Light Malt Extract 1.8 kg
Chocolate Malt 400 g
Roasted Barley 300 g
Rolled oats 300 g
Black Patent 150 g
Crystal (80l) 140 g
Crystal (120l) 60 g
light unhopped spray malt 200 g

Name Amount Alpha Boil time
NZ Golding 15 g 4.80% 60
NZ Hallertau 20 g 5.60% 60
NZ Pacific Gem 45 g 13.80% 60

Desired Volume: 23
Actual Volume 21.135
ABV 6.5 %
Original Gravity 1.064
Final Gravity: 1.020
IBU 68.2
SRM 87.6

Lol fuck, I'd forgotten about those! Yeah, drop 'em off any time you're in the area. I'm at 65a Peverel St (behind the mall), if no-ones home, just leave them by the back door. If you let me know which day you're coming by, I'll leave out some "milk" for "Santa". Cheers!

Nah man, it'll be sweet! At least they were stored cold, so should be interesting to see how they are now!

Hey, I see you are coming to Beervana. I am coordinating the volunteers. Did you know that if you volunteer for a session, you can get into another for free? Drop me an email at stephaniecoutts@yahoo.com.au if you are interested. I can send you the volunteer form. That will make a ticket free. Steph.

Cheers mate. All good this side of the planet although not finding enough time to brew any decent beers...
