brew in a bag is a great system I have done about 10 all grain brews using it now the only bad ones being due to oxidised hops...

instead of mashing out I have found lifting out the bag and having my wife place a large colander on an oven rack underneath and then sparging with about 10 litres of 77 deg water gives a good mash efficiency...

also for doughing in I start at 77deg and this settles out to 67-68 deg... I leave for 4 hours until the kids have gone to bed as they can't…

I started with the cheap option of sewing up $5 nylon net curtains from the ware whare but from multiple holes wouldn't reccomend it...

As far as I am concerned BIAB is the easiest way to go if you want more control over your brews with minimal capital investment!!!!!!
So glad i have read this , no…tag:www.forum.realbeer.co.nz,2010-12-19:1500433:Comment:986192010-12-19T09:32:07.524ZDan Filihiahekavahttp://www.forum.realbeer.co.nz/profile/DanFilihiahekava

Wish I'd read this last week ! My first BIAB (last wed night) was a lesson in how NOT to brew...chose the wrong beer, didnt have a couple of the tools neccessary like a cake rack and decided to risk brewing anyway.

Result is something in the primary that resembles beer but not as I would like it.

The guide is really well written. My only advice is to plan EVERYTHING. Maybe make a dry run through so you have everything to hand. The brew takes hours but its amazing how much panic can ensure…
