Hi Dave, I am interested in looking at the 650ss for my serving fridge project and would be keen to hear you thoughts on them. Do you have them yet? How do you find them? Where are you sourcing yours from?

Hi David,

I bought mine from here. Pricing is good, shipping however is a bit of a stinger.

I have three on my serving fridge. I am very happy with them. The quality is good, they feel nice and they are easy to clean with no springs and the like inside to get gunged up.  I like the ability to control the flow, perfect for filling those "sipping" glasses. They close very cleanly, two drips and that's it.

With installing the taps in your fridge did you use a long shank or did you modify the door to use a short shank?

Do the perlicks fit any of the standard shanks or do you need specific ones for them?

Would be keen on any info, advice or tips as to how you built your kegerator. Always nice to not make all the mistakes yourself.

This is my next project, just brought a 2nd hand fridge big enough to fit 2 tiers of kegs so can get my 6 kegs + 5kg gas bottle in there. Now planning how I do the taps in the door. Liked the look of the perlicks with the forward seal mechanism and the flow control option seemed to make good sense for different beers and line lengths. Glad you like them.

Mine too is a tall fridge, a trademe special. It will allow me to fit eight kegs, if I had them.  

I ordered the shanks from the same site. My assumption is they are all a standard fitting.

Initially I purchased two of the 4 1/4" which for my door thickness are a tad too long, my second visit there for my third tap they were out of stock so I made do with a 3 1/4" shank. That was a little on the short side leaving only just enough thread to fit the tail piece, a 3 1/2" would have been perfect. 

I have also wired an STC 1000 in to control the temp.

I'll post some pics when I have some more time.
