Thanks to previous posts we've seen some pretty mean setups. I've been meaning to post my setup for a while to give an idea of what can be accomplished by spending SFA on a brewery. I guess it is what Great Uncle Bulgaria would have used had he been a brewer. I don't have much room in the garage so it all just got shoe-horned into one corner.

Anyway today I brewed a nice pale lager, modelled on Tasty McDole's Dortmunder. I used Pacifica, torrified wheat, and Wyeast 2308, but otherwise the same but for 20L.

Milling:

Adding strike water:

Mashing: (Tempmate used to monitor temperature)

The lauter:

Close up of the sparge:

The boil: (just after knock-out hop addition)

And in the fermentation freezer awaiting pitching:

Pretty povvo I know, but it seems to do the trick.

Nice one Crabbey!  I always enjoy seeing how we all do the same thing differently.  The joys of HomeBrewing :-)

I love how your brewery is a collection of everyday items put together to make a great little brewery.  Good stuff!

awesome Crabbey! Have you considered calling it "Steptoe and Son Brewery"

Though the site of the turps and the old school handle, up above "the tallest mill in realbeernz", do have me wondering what your "brewer's breakfast" consists of.  You're a fan of 42 Below, I take it? ;-)

Nice needs more taps :-P

How's the Dort?

Comment by crabbey on January 18, 2011 at 4:53pm

Haha damn right! I'm working on it!

Dort is tasting good, although the higher hopping rates of Pacifica are kinda weird. Next time I think I'll go noble. Malt-wise it is great.
