Do I not count the flaked barley in the total grain bill? Total amount of grain is 4.5 + 1.3 + .65 = 6.45kgs so I thought 10% of that = 650g? I am just trying for a good basic dry stout, I like Guin…

Yeah I know but I am here there and everywhere this week & weekend and won't be home much till Sunday (brewday) so don't want to rely on a courier. Would rather pick it up myself on my travels.

HELP! I can't get flaked barley from my local HBS - is there an alternative? Or anywhere in Auckland that stocks it?

First stout:
Which yeast should I use - is US05 OK or is it a little too clean? Aiming for a dry stout around 5% ABV, can anyone recommend a real basic recipe to get a feel for the style? Much appreciated!
Holy crap that is a lot of hops!! Well done mate, haven't tried an amber yet - or an imperial anything; might be time to kill two birds with one 400g bag of hops and a metric shit-ton of grain!
James' blond ale part deux - tasting really good after ~5 weeks in the bottle. Happy with the hops, might try a different brand of pils malt next time.
