Hey Nathan,

Soren from Renaissance here... Are you familiar with Sydney? I'm going over there for a quick visit next week and was hoping you could tell me where to find good beer? Are there any brewpubs or good bars? Or do you know of any good bottleshops, I have been sleeping restlessly since you told me you get Mikkeller over there:) But I have also heard about American micros being available in Oz and of course domestic produced great stuff is top interest as well, are there any beers to keep an eye out for, I only really know about Murray's...

Cheers
Soren

That's awesome, thanks! I had a quick look around on google the other day and didn't really find anything that looked good so I was fearing there wasnt much, but that list should keep me busy for sure. Brian was just telling me yesterday that our beer was going to be on tap at this Spec-tapular event, but I'm sure he said it was in Melbourne, he must have gotten it wrong:) I'm going the week after ANZAC but hopefully they will have some left overs of all the good stuff.
he Big-worse will certainly stand up to some aging, but I'm sure it will be packed with hops as well so that might justify drinking it "fresh". I don't think I'd have the patience though...:)
If you haven't had the bourbon porter yet, keep it relatively cool. I suspect there are some bugs in there from the wood and it is still fermenting.
Are there any Australian micros that stand out from the others?

Thanks alot!

Yeah, it was great! I took your advise and went straight to the taphouse, awesomne selection of domestic beers on thap and I finished of with the Flying Dog Gonzo imp porter, stunning that was. I stayed pretty close to red oak so I went there twice. Their beers were all very well crafted and very much on style. Their baltic porter was especially deliscious. The first time I went there they were half way into a beer and food event, would have loved to have joined that but too late. And finally as you suggested I went to the australian hotel, huge selection of aussie beers, best one was probably mountain goat IPA, which was a lot better than the hightail I tried at the taphouse. the staff at the taphouse did tell me about a good bottleshop nearby but I never made it back there (withinb opening hours) before I left, I did find another one that sold red oak and canadian unibroue thoguh.
Again, thank you very much for your advice, I was plenty busy on the beer front!
