Profile Information

Favorite Beers?: Tripel is my favourite style, so Westmalle Triple, Tripel Karmeliet, Moa St Josephs, Corsendonk Agnus or any authentically done Abbey style Tripel is highest on my list. Otherwise, sharing a ( at least 5 year old) Thomas Hardys Ale with a friend is unbeatable, or any kind of crazy Belgian Strong style (Oerbier, Tremens, Cochonette etc).
In short, I like Belgian beers!

Favorite Breweries?: Emersons, De Dolle, Brouwerij Huyghe, Trappist anything (excliding La Trappe), Pink Elephant, Rodenbach.

Favorite Bars/Pubs?: Malthouse, Bar Edwards. Regionals, but its not really a bar/pub. I do give them most of my money though.

About Me:: I'm a 3rd year Bsc student, majoring in chemistry. I also write the beer column for 'Salient' the VUW student mag as 'dave the beer guy'.
I'm always keen to try something new, I hope to have rated thousands of beers in the next few years.

I had the chance to get a free La Trappe glass the other day, but they had sold out. At first I was disappointed, then I realised that La Trappe is rather crap. But then again, Moosehead is rather crap - the glass is entirely sentimental value... Plus some practical value for those lumbering stouts that fit no glass comfortably...
