After a few days of scratching my head I have finally done what I set out to do 3 years ago and make a water adjustment page in my recipe calculator.  So I was just wondering if someone who has some "actual" brewing software could check these numbers for me...

Based on an addition of 1g/L I have come up with the following concentrations in ppm...

Ca2+

Mg2+

Na+

SO42-

Cl-

HCO3-

Gypsum (CaSO4)

232.8

557.9

Epsom Salts (MgSO4)

98.6

389.7

Table Salt (NaCl)

393.4

606.6

Baking Soda (NaHCO3)

273.7

726.3

Calcium Chloride (CaCl2)

272.6

482.3

Chalk (CaCO3)

396.4

603.6

Thanks in advance...

Using Beersmith... all figures on the right in parts per million (PPM)

Um... I take it I just have to multiply these numbers by 23 to equate to my numbers....?
For 1g/L added to distilled water Beersmith gives me (in the same order as yours, left to right top to bottom)

237.4, 560.2, 98.4, 389.9, 393.7, 605.7, 272.6, 715.4, 272.6, 480.8, 401.3, 598.1.

I've found some variance between different programs for water additions.

You could reference the sheet at the bottom of this page and see what formulas he's using http://howtobrew.com/section3/chapter15-3.html
Sweet, that looks close enough for me.... I guess any variances could be due to the atomic masses that they are using for each element...

Cheers guys...
