Dont do it - its not very effective, at all, and is a massive pain in the ass!

 

Better to destroy a coffee grinder, or, ask around here for someone local to crush your grain? like a fellow home brewer or local brew supply shop maybe?

A 750ml bottles better than a rolling pin, it's a harder surface.

You're in paraparaumu ?

Who else is up there on the coast - i think there's a few people brewing yea ?

If worst comes to worst you could always drive a bit up SH1 to your local brewery :-)

It's way better to find a fellow brewer nearby to crush your grains and share a beer with. You actually want to have the husks remain fairly intact and the endosperm and starchy bits to be well pulverised. If you are near Upper Hutt I can help you out on Saturday morning.

Cheers guys. Might give the old fella at the LHBS a ring and see if has a mill, but seeing he tried to steer me away from grains to begin with im pretty doubtfull he does... Gonna ring Tuatara aswell and see what they say. Cheer Chris, not sure what time id be able to get to the Hutt tomorrow to be honest. Probly not the morning anyways haha. Goin to work in the morning for a few hours

So i started the researching this and i came across a blender method... You reckon this could be better if i take it easy? Like if worse comes to worse?

Yea, it's a long time since I went into the shop in paraparaumu and it was a shop full of tins then but who knows.
Checking realbeer members listin, try getting hold of smiffy, looks like he maybe brewing grain up the coast

It'd take you as long to mill in a blender as it would to drive somewhere, maybe enjoy a home brew, a natter, get a good crush and drive home again
